The project you had last summer with your kids and their neighborhood friends in the pooling together of their child trains toys has been quite a hit with the dads in the community. You got the kids to bring all their child trains into your yard to form a long convoy telling them that this was what happened in early American years. The kids especially got interested in the part where they played Indian braves attacking the convoy of child trains supposedly carrying passengers and cargo towards the western portions of the American countryside then in the wild days of the 1800’s. The kids read about this only in history books now.
You launched the project to ensure that the kids spend long hours under the summer sun so they could sweat off the toxins from their bodies that have accumulated over the months from eating junk food while lazily lounging and viewing TV. Summer was the most appropriate time for your project with the kids in the neighborhood as they were all on vacation from school.
The moms were even happy that you had the project of pooled toys trains for all their children, so they were freed for sometime doing their household tasks.
The kids did a good research in the Internet on what the American Wild West was all about in early American history. When you created the drama in your yard on the attack of the Indians on the wooden trains, they were all excited and created so much noise and ruckus forcing many of the moms to come over to view what the excitement was all about.
The concept of the "play" with the wooden toy train for children as the trains of old traversing the American continent was simple: The trains traveled out into the vast American countryside as what took place in historical times, with the danger of Indian warriors on horseback attacking the convoy at any point on the long stretch.
Half of the kids acted as Indians while the other half played the role of the American cavalry soldiers defending the child trains from the attack. You can imagine the noise of battle for the trains created as the kids on both sides were shrilly shouting and simulating the gunfire from the American cavalrymen’s rifles and pistols pitted against the bow and arrows of the Indians.
Your project on the child trains spread around the community like wild fire and the dads who were away at work and unable to see it complained, and suggested a repeat of it next summer. That will be an easy thing to do especially because you now have many of the dads as supporters of the project and it will be much easier for you to do it. The eager dads might even want to join up as Indian braves themselves next year and share the excitement with their kids. That will enable all dads who are interested to spend quality time with their boys then. |
